KEY THINGS TO KNOW

To save time, it pays to write your copy, and a good headline, in a Word file, before using the upload. For security reasons, the upload will time-out after around 20 minutes.

Have an image (Jpeg or png file) ready to upload for a Signature Image and maybe to put on the page.

Use a different image every time you post. This will help you stand out among the posts.

Use your name correctly and consistently in the Author panel. In cases where you wish to be anonymous or have a generic title, use something like ‘Editor’.

In the Location panel, use the town name only and not other words or suburbs, e.g. just use Taradale or Hastings.

Make the Page Description copy continuous (without para breaks or headings) using at least 70 words.

Your selection of Categories is important because it broadcasts your post to the appropriate places. Your first choice is the one displayed on your post and you have between 4 and 7 Category selections for each post.

Select your Page Type according to the purpose and aims of the particular post.

BLOGS: A blog post is generally written in an informal or conversational style, e.g. "it's about a week since I last blogged". They typically express personal opinions, activities, and experiences, and it's best if fresh posts are published often. An overarching characteristic is that posts seek responses (comments).

ARTICLES: An article post is generally more formally written than a blog post (think magazine articles), is perhaps more timeless in its shelf-life and might be longer (say more than 500 words).

MEDIA RELEASES: A media release is regarded as information provided to 'traditional media outlets' for the purpose of reported publication and public relations.

EVENTS: An event which has a date, time and location.

NEWS ITEMS: A news post allows you to present your ‘latest news’ items or solve the problem of how to present news content that needs a link to another website. It may be a long item (your own news), or a short item with a link to a news source.

SPEECH NOTES: Text from a speech or presentation, e.g. Rachel Smith’s speech to the New York Club.

RESOURCES PAGES: A resources page contains useful information and advice, or lists. It might have a title starting with 'How to...' and pages are likely to be found in a library structure,

ITEMS PAGES: These are content pages which don't easily fit any of the above page types. These can be ideal as information pages for products and services.
